New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA) has honored Fresh Pond Apartments and Symphony Plaza with their prestigious Communities of Quality Awards. Fresh Pond Apartments, a 504 unit development in Cambridge, Massachusetts received the award for Exemplary Family Development, while Symphony Plaza, a 404 unit development in Boston, Massachusetts received the award for Exemplary Development for the Elderly
Fresh Pond Apartments are owned by an affiliate of Schochet Associates, Inc., a for-profit owner of affordable housing throughout New England. Symphony Plaza is owned by Retirement Housing Foundation, a national faith-based non-profit headquartered in Long Beach, CA.
Communities of Quality Awards honor the achievements of affordable housing providers who have made an unprecedented contribution to the affordable housing industry by developing and maintaining outstanding properties that are safe and vibrant places to live.
Winners were chosen by an independent panel of representatives from the affordable housing arena, including government, academia, and trade associations. Awards will be presented at the NEAHMA Annual Conference and Trade Show on October 28, 2010.
