Schochet Associates and Federal Management Co., Inc. President Richard J. Henken has been elected National Apartment Association Region II Vice President. Henken's two-year term began at the start of the calendar year and concludes at the end of 2013.
As a regional vice president Henken will perform a variety of duties such as attending all local, regional and national meetings and serving as a liaison from the region to the Board of Directors by reporting and responding to questions and concerns. Other responsibilities include appointing members and enforcing the NAA bylaws, policies and procedures.
The NAA is organized into ten regional entities, with each electing a regional vice president every two years. Each regional vice president must either be an owner, developer, builder, operator or manager of rental housing.
Henken officially joined Schochet Associates in 1997 as Executive Vice President, and in 2004 he became President of the firm and Federal Management Co., Inc. He is responsible for closing transactions that exceed more than $400 million, highlighted by the acquisition and preservation as affordable of more than 2,500 apartments in 15 developments.
