Jay R. Schochet is Chairman of the Board of Schochet Associates and Federal Management Co., Inc., companies he founded in 1973. Under the auspices of Schochet Associates, he organized JRS Equities in 1980. JRS Equities provided leadership in the syndication , and sale back to Retirement Housing Foundation, of Angelus Plaza, one of the crown jewels of the RHF portfolio.
Mr. Schochet has been a leader in the development of creative methods to finance and preserve affordable housing. Over the course of his career, he has developed almost 2,000 units of affordable housing located throughout New England, each of which provides a safe, decent, and secure living environment for those who are among the most needy. More recently, he has spearheaded, on behalf of RHF, the purchase and preservation as affordable, more than 1,400 apartments in eight developments in and around Boston.
